A Letter From Trent

Following Jesus is what I would call “crazy fun.”  He brings us to the brink of all of our fears and insecurities and inevitably pulls us off the ledge of security into a place of desperate dependence.  2 Corinthians 5:20-21 says:

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

To think that the Father desires to reconcile people to Himself through us is astounding.
At the Outpost, we don’t have it all together and we do our best to not portray that we do.  Instead we continue to find connection in our weakness and vulnerability.  We believe soul healing will not occur until we are willing to allow God and others into our broken places.  We really have nothing to hide, but instead enjoy the warmth of living in the light as best as we can.  This honesty goes right down to what we do with every cent given/spent, into our Life-groups, worship, and everyday lives.

You might look around the Outpost and wonder why we are not doing more of this program or that one and shouldn’t we as a church be doing more?  The Outpost will be about doing the few things Christ has called us to as it relates to making disciples.  The Outpost really is about joining what the Father is doing.  And since the Father blesses what the Father is doing, we want to live that out faithfully because we love being blessed by Him.  We don’t have all the answers but as we are faithful, he unfolds our direction on a “need to know” basis.  Following Jesus is a wild ride; but it is the one that we were created for.
