I slept well last night despite sleeping for 4 hours in the car on the way from Kampala to Gulu yesterday. Unfortunately the rest of the team was up most of the night with jet lag. WHen its this hot and you are this tired, if you sit down in the afternoon it takes about 10 seconds to sleep. The VBS team went to a school today and did bible lessons and songs with the kids. Cynthia, who is a teacher of 5th grade said there were 87 children per classroom!!!! They then held an additional meeting at the Gulu community church that went well also. The kids love to see the white people. ANd yes I could bring home everyone of these little ones as they are so very cute. I taught the first day of the pastors’ conference today unpacking the Pauline cycle for planting churches as well as understanding Eph 4:11 and the relationship between local churches and true biblical parachurches. Many questions were asked and it was a great day. At one point one man asked, “What do we do? We do not have a theological education. How can we lead our churches?” I explained to him that we were giving him the early foundations of one this week. They cheered. It made me feel at home to walk into the church today and here hill songs on the cd player in english. Tomorrow the ladies will run more VBS and I’ll train again. We’ll tackle the gospel, the first principles, and begin work on the Pauline Epistles. I do have one prayer request—I ate the eggs this morning which was apparently a bad idea. So I’ve had some stomach discomfort to say the least. Pray that it goes away in the night. Blessings to you and thank you for praying for us. We discussed at breakfast how God’s strength is really shown in our weakness. I was able to face time Kristen and the kids. One of the people working in our house had to unplug the fridge to do some work and unfortunately forgot to plug it back in so poor Kristen has to deal with that and throw everything out. And of course one of our toilets is needing plunging and the plunging has not been working. If you have the spiritual gift of plunging, please call my wife:)
